The CORE Centre, located in the heart of Calverton, Nottinghamshire, was established in 1994, originally under the name of Oasis, in response to needs of the Calverton community following the pit closure of 1993. Since then, our aims have been to develop local people’s employability, life skills and to enhance the life of the community through training, advice and other services.

The CORE Centre is a charity, registered with the Charity Commission No 1079864 since 16 March 2000.

Overall management responsibility is held by the Board of Trustees which works closely with the Project Manager and her assistant.

Board of Trustees
The CORE Centre has an active Board of Trustees responsible for the overall management of the organisation which clearly sets out its objects, management rules and procedures. Members are appointed on the basis of their knowledge and involvement with The CORE Centre and Calverton community and surrounding areas.

The current committee draws on the experiences of a majority of members who represent the community, users, volunteers and representatives from partners. The Trustees have a wide range of skills and knowledge, including the local MP. Mark Spencer MP is The CORE Centre's Honorary Patron.
